Looking For a Study Room?

The 2014-2015 academic year at the University of Nebraska begins on Monday, August 25th! The librarians and staff at Schmid Law Library welcome students to law school; we look forward to working with you this year.  

Please review the Schmid Law Library Study Room Policy; the law library study rooms are for Nebraska Law Students ONLY.


Law students must sign up for rooms and keys must be checked out. Keys must be returned at the end of reserved time.



Room Signup:

  • The reservation sheet is put out daily at the Circulation Desk.
  • No over the telephone signups.
  • Desk workers will NOT take reservations, hold rooms, or guarantee room availability.
  • Use is limited to a total of 4 hours per day; alone or in a group.
  • Rooms not claimed within 10 minutes may be taken by others.
  • Do not move furniture or bring furniture into any study rooms.

DO NOT leave computers, books, bags and other items unattended. The Schmid Law Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.


Shhhh, Final Exam Reminders (and Tweet Treats)

Final exams are just around the corner! A few reminders:

  • Extended library hours start Friday, April 25th – see our website for details.
  • Please keep your voices down and conversations to a minimum, we want the library to be a quiet and productive place to study.
  • No cell phone calls in the library, use the phone booths on the first floor or leave the building.
  • Follow the study room rules and promptly return study rooms keys.
  • Tweet Treats will take place during finals! Follow us on Twitter to find out where the treats are starting April 28th.

Final Exam Notice

Law exams are taken December 9 through December 18, and law students have begun preparing for those exams.

During this time, the Schmid Law Library and Ross McCollum Hall are reserved for the University of Nebraska law faculty, law students and legal researchers.

UNL students needing quiet study areas should use other facilities on campus including CYT Library.

Good luck on Finals!

Schmid Law Library wishes you “best of luck” for the Fall semester finals!  The library is open extended hours for studying:

Friday, December 2nd, 7:30 am – 12:30 am

Saturday, December 3rd, 8:00 am – 10:00 pm

Sunday, December 4th, 9:00 am – 12:30 am

Friday, December 9th, 7:30 am – 12:30 am

Saturday, December 10th, 8:00 am – 10:00 pm

Sunday, December 11th, 9:00 am – 12:30 am

Library study rooms are filling up quickly; students may use studyrooms for four (4) hours per day.  Please check out the studyroom key within 10 minutes of your start time and promptly return the key when done – fellow students will appreciate your timeliness.

Librarians are available from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and over the lunch hour if you need assistance, the tech guys are around for computer help as well.
